Before the day
A christening goes by in a blur, and the planning starts weeks before. Your christening invitation has a photo of the baby, the date, the church and the reception on a map, and the schedule. Choose a soft theme and send the link to the family group, or print the QR code on the invitations.
The RSVP counts adults and children, takes meal choices and allergies, and gives you a CSV for the venue. Relatives who live abroad say whether they can travel. In the feed, guests post wishes and photos from the baby’s first months, and the godparent’s name carries their role.
On the day
Put a QR code at the church door and on the reception tables. Guests type their name once and share photos and videos from every corner of the church: the baby in the font, the godparent with the candle, the moment the little one is dressed in white. The church and the reception are separate parts of the day, so their photos stay apart in the feed.
At the reception the live photo wall puts the photos on a screen, and children love finding themselves on it. Guests add stories, request songs, or take photo challenges like “three generations in one photo”. Ask a cousin to be a co-host and watch the feed, so you can stay with the baby.
After the day
Every written wish goes into the wishbook, a PDF to keep with the baptism certificate. On Signature, guests can leave voice wishes too. Imagine your child at eighteen hearing a great-grandmother’s blessing from that day. Download everything and pick the best photos for the thank-you cards.
Christening customs in Cyprus
In Cyprus the godparent, the νονός or νονά, is at the centre of the day. They usually bring the «λαμπάδα», the tall decorated candle, and the white clothes the baby wears after the font. In many families the name is kept secret until the priest says it during the service. Guests receive «μαρτυρικά», small ribbon pins or crosses that make them witnesses of the baptism, and bonbonnières with sugared almonds at the end. Make the name the moment the feed waits for, and add a challenge for a photo with the godparent. Many grandparents read only Greek, so choose Greek for the guest pages and others switch to English or Russian. Christenings are big in Cyprus, often with as many guests as a wedding, so put the QR code at the church door and at the reception. More in our guides to places across Cyprus.
