Celebrating in Limassol
Limassol has two settings for a wedding. Along the coast there are seafront hotels, the marina and the old port. Inland, half an hour or so up winding roads, are the wine villages, the «κρασοχώρια», with stone churches and long views over the vineyards. Many couples marry in a village church and celebrate by the sea, or the other way round. Limassol is also the most international town in Cyprus, and a single guest list can include Cypriot, British, Russian-speaking and Israeli families.
Venues and seasons
- Seafront hotels with lawns, terraces and ballrooms, for receptions of every size.
- Marina and old port venues for smaller weddings, engagements and welcome drinks.
- Wineries and stone houses in the wine villages, with sunset views across the hills.
- Village churches in the hills and the parish churches of the town.
- Rooftops and beach venues for birthdays and summer parties.
The outdoor season runs from April well into November. In midsummer the coast is humid and the light is strong until late, while evenings in the hill villages are noticeably cooler.
Customs
Limassol weddings keep the Cypriot traditions. The bed-making with friends and relatives, the koumbaroi beside the couple in church, the line of guests with their envelopes and the money dance are all part of the day, even at the most modern venues. Christenings bring the godparent («νονός» or «νονά») to the centre, with small favours for every guest.
Tips for a Limassol wedding
- Two places, one schedule. A church in the hills and a reception on the coast can be 40 minutes apart. Put both in the digital invitation with a map and the time for each, so nobody waits at the wrong door.
- Guest pages in three languages. Every guest can switch the pages to English, Greek or Russian. Write the welcome text in the languages your families read.
- Signal in the vineyards can be weak. Uploads from the QR code resume where they stopped, so guests keep shooting and the photos arrive once the phone finds a signal.
- The wind on the coast takes loose cards. Put the QR code on menus or stands, not on the tables alone.
- Let guests choose the music. With song requests they suggest and vote, and the DJ gets the list.
- After dark, switch on the live photo wall on a screen under cover.
Which plan fits
For most Limassol weddings, Story (€149) brings the live wall, gifts and the wishbook. Signature (€219) adds voice wishes and a highlight video, and removes MyWedi branding. See weddings and pricing, or try the wedding demo.
